DARLENE CEGLIA’S DANCE PROJECT© is committed to providing quality education to children and adults. KINDERCLASS, a non-performance introduction to music & movement, is specifically designed to develop motor coordination skills and musicality for dancers between the ages of two and a half through four. TAP classes continue to build the student’s motor skills, stressing timing, rhythm and retaining patterns of movement for dancers age four and five. JAZZ class, which incorporates a more free form style of movement is available to students at the age of six. The many different forms and of jazz dance, i.e. Classic Jazz, Theatrical, Lyrical, Funky and Hip Hop are covered in the jazz program when students have mastered basic jazz technique. BALLET class, based upon the classical school of movement is also available at the age of six. Since both jazz and ballet require a higher level of physical and mental development, the student must be older to derive the maximum benefit from class.
MODERN class is available to students at the ageof 10. Modern is an abstract style of movement without a prescribed vocabulary. While Modern dance borrows from other disciplines i.e. Ballet, Jazz and Lyrical Jazz, it is based on such principals as space, force and weight.
